These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and sunchat ("we", "us") that governs your use of the sunchat app and the sunchat.co website (together, the "Service"). Please read them. They are written to be readable; if anything is unclear, write to hello@sunchat.co.
1 · Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. You must be at least 13 years old to use sunchat. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your country, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms with you.
2 · Your account
To use sunchat you sign in with Apple Sign In or an email magic link. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe. You may request account deletion by contacting hello@sunchat.co.
sunchat is a paired service — you can be paired with at most one other person at a time. Either person can dissolve the pairing from inside the app.
3 · Using sunchat
You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose: sending voice notes to your paired partner as wake-up alarms. In particular, you agree not to:
- Send content to someone who has not consented to be paired with you, or who has unpaired from you.
- Record or transmit threats, harassment, sexual content involving minors, or content that violates the law where either of you lives.
- Reverse-engineer the Service, automate account creation, or attempt to access another user's data.
- Use sunchat as a primary alarm for safety-critical activities. It is a gentle morning ritual, not a life-support device.
Violating these rules may result in your account being suspended or terminated.
4 · Your voice notes
You own everything you record. We don't claim a license to your voice notes beyond what's strictly necessary to deliver them to your paired partner. Specifically:
- Voice notes are stored on our servers and transmitted over HTTPS. Access is restricted to you and your paired partner via authenticated, time-limited URLs.
- Voice notes are retained until you delete them or configure automatic deletion in the app's settings.
- If you enable on-device transcription, the transcript text is stored alongside the audio so your partner can read along. Transcription is processed entirely on your device.
- We never train models on your voice notes. Ever.

5 · Pricing
sunchat is currently free to use. We may introduce a paid subscription in the future. If we do, we will notify you in-app at least 30 days before any paid features take effect. Any subscriptions will be processed through the App Store; we never handle your payment details directly.
6 · Service availability
We try hard to keep sunchat running 24/7, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, network issues, or events beyond our control may temporarily prevent voice notes from being delivered on time. If this happens during your morning, please take it gently: the buzzer fallback will still ring.
7 · Ending the relationship
You can stop using sunchat and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give you at least 60 days' notice and an export of any data still on our servers.
8 · No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.
9 · Limit of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, sunchat will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don't allow limitations like these — in those places, the limitation applies only to the extent permitted.
10 · Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms occasionally. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and notify you in-app for any material change. Continued use after the change means you accept the new Terms. If you don't accept them, you can stop using the Service.
11 · Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by writing to us first will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Idaho, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
